The vast majority of foreign language teachers use music in the classroom, both as a tool for teaching and as a means of motivating students. Music is a fun way of approaching the language, and that is what this project is all about. Basically the students are attending a concert and listening to songs, most of which will be familiar to them (U2, Police, Dire Straits, Alanis Morrissette, Queen, Eric Clapton, etc.), but this is a concert with a difference. The students can see the lyrics of the songs, projected onto a screen behind the performers, and they are encouraged not just to listen passively, but to join in, sing along, and even, for the more daring among them, to perform themselves. Després de rebre una formació teorico-pràctica, i de pilotar el PEL (Portfolio Europeu de les Llengües) als nostres centres, hem anat descobrint com n’és de fàcil treballar per competències, millorar la competència lingüística i la motivació dels nostres alumnes. El PEL ens ha portat a un canvi de metodologia inesperada, però molt gratificant. La reflexió, l’auto avaluació, el treball per competències, els esquemes … han anat formant part de la nostra pràctica educativa d’una manera fàcil, clara i lògica. En aquesta xerrada volem fer-ne difusió i mostrar alguns exemples pràctics de seqüències didàctiques i famílies de seqüències en llengua anglesa, catalana i castellana amb les que tant han après els nostres alumnes com nosaltres. Adapting the descriptors in the Portfolio to our own classes. (Primària)
The aim of this workshop is to present a way to adapt the descriptors in the CEF -Common European Framework- to the final objectives of each unit of work and to the different language levels of the learners in class. Many of the teachers who are using the Portfolio in their classes often complain that they find difficult to match and sequence the descriptors that appear in ‘My Language Biography’ to the final objectives of specific units of work. In this session I would like to present an example of a teaching sequence, based on communicative competences, as well as ideas on how to make the learners’ reflect on what they can do and self assess their individual progress no matter the language level they have. The workshop will be in English and Catalan and it could be useful for Primary and ESO -1st 2nd year- teachers.

New ways of using songs in the classroom (Secundària)
Are you or your students tired of the same old gap-fill activities for songs? In this session we’ll explore some motivating alternatives to traditional ways of exploiting songs. We’ll also look at a few easy-to-prepare ICT ideas to exploit songs, such as producing interactive Hot Potatoes with music clips from the internet or even how you can create your own Karaokes to sing in the classroom.

Implantació dels projectes d’innovació educativa en llengua anglesa en una zer: “The running library” i “It’s time to talk” (Infantil, Primària)
Presentarem les experiències realitzades a la nostra Zer Conca de Barberà dins del marc dels projectes d’innovació en llengua estrangera. Primer projecte: “The running library” - “La biblioteca mòbil”: millora de la comprensió i expressió escrita així com l’adquisició de l’hàbit de la lectura en llengua anglesa. Segon projecte: “It’s time to talk” : millora de l’expressió oral. Aquest projecte està dividit en dues parts: “Learning through stories” per Educació Infantil i Cicle Inicial i “Let’s be reporters” per Cicle Mitjà i Cicle Superior.

“Competences are easy, let’s work with PEL” (Primària, Internivells)
Després de rebre una formació teorico-pràctica, i de pilotar el PEL (Portfolio Europeu de les Llengües) als nostres centres, hem anat descobrint com n’és de fàcil treballar per competències, millorar la competència lingüística i la motivació dels nostres alumnes. El PEL ens ha portat a un canvi de metodologia inesperada, però molt gratificant. La reflexió, l’auto avaluació, el treball per competències, els esquemes … han anat formant part de la nostra pràctica educativa d’una manera fàcil, clara i lògica. En aquesta xerrada volem fer-ne difusió i mostrar alguns exemples pràctics de seqüències didàctiques i famílies de seqüències en llengua anglesa, catalana i castellana amb les que tant han après els nostres alumnes com nosaltres. Ens anomenem “Portfolieres” perquè pensem que el PEL mostra un abans i un després en la nostra tasca com a docents.
